Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

As an organisation we are proud to support young volunteers who are taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.

 Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

The scheme is open to any person between the ages of 14 and 24 there are three levels Bronze, Silver and Gold.  Each level requires completion of a volunteering component.

Lorraine believes whole-heartedly that the DofE award is a prestigious award and should be worked hard.  Generally each DofE volunteer will be assigned a Senior Volunteer for guidance and record keeping.  However, she asks that this Senior Volunteer keeps them busy and works them hard!!  So be prepared !!

They can be expected to be involved in most aspects of the rescue – including cleaning kennels, walking dogs, doing laundry, brushing dogs, tidying the arena, preparing meals/enrichment activities – indeed the list is endless.

Some of our previous DofE volunteers have moved on to great things – from veterinary medicine to international business.  Some have remained and became Senior Volunteers and valued members of the Islay Dog Rescue family.

If you wish to enquire about completing your DofE volunteer component at Islay Dog Rescue please complete the form detailed below.
