Approx Age: 5
Willow was adopted from us just over a year ago but has unfortunately had to come back into our care. She is a fantastic dog who would suit an active individual or couple. We would say no children or other animals.
She has many, many positive points. Highly intelligent and very well bred with superb conformation she is a fabulous example of the German Shepherd breed. She is food motivated and easy to train - in fact, we have had the most amazing training sessions in the arena. Willow also loves to play with a ball and her absolute joy is to play with the boomer ball in the arena. She walks well on the lead and travels well in the car.
The not so negative points are that she has a high prey drive - cats, small furry animals, small dogs even - she would chase and harm. She is not to be trusted around livestock either - although, to be fair, she can walk past the sheep in the neighbouring fields and, even if the sheep are at the roadside, we had in so well behaved that she would ignore them. However, that does NOT mean she could be trusted off lead. She is not keen on other dogs and prefers a more individualised lifestyle.
If you are looking for a dog you can take to the beach and let run free then Willow is not for you. However, if you are looking for an independent lady to go hill walking or rambling with then she is most definitely your girl!
Healthwise Willow is currently very overweight and she is taking part in doggy weight-watchers along with regular exercise - already we are seeing a difference. Unfortunately, her vaccinations lapsed so we are having to start a full course again.
She is spayed, treated for parasites, assessed and will be re-vax'd and health checked before rehoming. However, if you are interested in adopting her please complete an adoption application. Her adoption donation is £400 which goes directly to saving the lives of dogs just like her.
